with so many films coming from big studios and companies we loads of money. How are small film companies going to survive in a sea of bigger fish. And without small compaines how are new young directors going to make it to the top.

Just because bigger film companies have bigger budgets doesn't mean that people will not watch smaller budget films as it is how good the film is that counts and not how good the effects are or how famous the actors are.
Of course unless you have the will to keep making films and not be discouraged even if it is not successful

well, the digital age has arrived and it's probably gonna have a huge impact on studio pictures. So now's the time to make your films and get them up on the net, etc..
